Why Does Cleansing Oil Still Feel Greasy?
Hello,
This is Dr. M, OTC specialist at OTCM.
Consumers no longer judge the cleansing step by cleansing ability alone — they now
weigh the experience of using the product. Texture cues in particular, like the
feeling that something is still sitting on the skin or a slippery finish after
rinsing, have become decisive factors in whether a product gets repurchased.
Cleansing oil has defined the first cleansing step. Its ability to dissolve makeup
and sebum is undisputed, but the heavy, oily feel during use and the slick residue
left behind after rinsing are exactly why many consumers move away from it. That's
the gap where OTCM set out to close.

The reason why conventional cleansing oils leave that slippery finish comes down to
the molecular size of the oil.
Natural oils are large and heavy at the molecular level. They're expert at
enveloping and removing makeup from the skin's surface, but their size means they
don't rinse away cleanly. When these large, heavy oils form a thick film
on the skin, residue and slipperiness remain even after washing.
To deliver powerful cleansing and a fresh, clean finish at the same time, the oil
itself has to be engineered differently.

The OTCM Approach: Making Oil 3× Smaller
|
|
OTCM approached the problem by shrinking the oil's molecular size itself.
Conventional oil extraction relies on solvent extraction — dissolving oil components
with organic solvents. It's an efficient way to obtain raw material, but the oil's
molecular structure is left unchanged. In other words, the extracted oil is still
large and heavy.
OTCM took it a step further with Enzyme-Bioconversion. This technology uses
biological enzymatic conversion to restructure the oil's molecular structure — it
doesn't simply extract oil, it transforms it at the molecular level. The following
result is called the Micro-Oil Technology.
To summarize, Enzyme-Bioconversion is the process that transforms the oil, and
Micro-Oil Technology is the resulting small-molecule oil structure. Together, the
two technologies yield a Micro-Oil 3× smaller than original oils.

A smaller oil behaves differently in two important ways.
It's designed to reach deeper into impurities trapped in pores.
As molecules shrink, their contact area with the skin surface expands,
allowing faster, closer adhesion to sebum and buildup lodged between pores.
Micro-Oil is built on this principle to deliver more effective cleansing than
conventional cleansing oils.
It's designed to minimize film formation during rinsing. Because its molecules are
small, Micro-Oil forms a thinner film on skin than standard natural oils. The
formulation leverages this physical property to reduce post-cleanse residue.

OTCM's Differentiated Technology : From Cleansing Power
to Skin Feel
|
|
Three core technologies come together in Micro-Oil Cleansing Oil, where cleansing
performance and sensory experience are designed as one.
|
Powerful Cleansing:
Micro-Oil + Sebum Scaling effect
|
Micro-Oil's small particle size gives it a structural advantage in adhering rapidly
to makeup particles and sebum. It's specifically formulated to deliver a Sebum
Scaling effect, acting on hardened sebum inside pores and dead skin buildup.
The moment it's massaged in with the fingertips, the oil spreads evenly across the
entire skin surface, quickly enveloping and dissolving makeup and sebum.

Cleansing That Protects
the Skin - 28% Natural Oil Complex
|
Cleansing oil isn't just a cleansing vehicle. Because the skin barrier can be
temporarily disrupted during cleansing, oil selection and concentration determine
how skin feels afterward.
With that in mind, OTCM formulated with a 28% small-molecule sunflower oil complex.
Sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid, giving it a fatty acid profile closely
resembling the skin barrier's own composition, and it's known for spreading lightly
and quick absorption. OTCM applied Enzyme-Bioconversion to this sunflower oil as
well, so that even at high concentration it spreads weightlessly on the skin.
This isn't just about a gentle finish — it's an oil complex built to cleanse while
minimizing stress on the skin.

Clean Down to the
Ingredients — Sephora Clean Formula
|
Cleansing products come into direct contact with the skin and can be absorbed
during massage. That's precisely why consumers are sensitive about the ingredient
safety of cleansing oils.
Micro-Oil Cleansing Oil is formulated free of every ingredient on the Sephora Clean
Formula's No-No list — standard from one of the most trusted certifications
in the global clean beauty market excluding over 50 ingredients including parabens,
sulfates, and formaldehyde. By pairing high cleansing performance with ingredient
transparency consumers can rely on, it's a formulation especially well suited to
brands pursuing a clean beauty positioning.

Point 3
|
In today's cleansing oil market, cleansing power is the default.
What consumers actually want is a product that washes thoroughly,
leaves skin comfortable afterward, and holds up to scrutiny on the
ingredient list.
OTCM doesn't just formulate oils that clean well — we design the
texture and skin feel consumers experience throughout the cleansing
process. Micro-Oil technology, realized through Enzyme-Bioconversion,
restructures oil at the molecular level to hit two targets at once:
cleansing efficiency and a fresh, non-greasy finish. On top of that,
a skin-friendly Natural Oil Complex and ingredient design meeting
Sephora Clean standards complete a cleansing oil that delivers on
all three points: performance, sensory experience, and ingredient safety.
OTCM goes beyond formulation supply. We propose differentiated cleansing solutions
aligned with the skin feel, cleansing performance,
natural-origin ingredient story, and market positioning each brand is
targeting.
Powerful cleansing balanced with a differentiated use experience —
OTCM's proprietary technology is setting a new standard for cleansing.
